ID Badge Procedure

-FIRST, obtain a badge application form which can be downloaded @ https://flysbn.com/airport-badging/

While downloading the form also take note of the Identity Documents listed that will be needed (“USCIS Form I-9”); you will need to bring these when the form is signed by our club representative as well as when the form is turned into the airport.  Basically you need either a Passport or a combination of; 1. a current Drivers License and 2. either a Social Security card or original or certified copy of your birth certificate

-SECONDLY, with the filled out badge application form (you fill out the top 2/3rds of the form), along with the required identification documents ready, contact our designated signer for the flying club; currently this is Keith Walatka, one of our  board members and instructors whose contact information is available on this site as well as flight circle.  Keith will verify the documents and sign the form.

-THEN, if this is your first time getting a badge, you will need to take the filled out (and signed) form along with your Identity Documents to the Airport Information Window in the terminal to begin a TSA Security Threat Assessment review; this may take several weeks.  You will be notified when the assessment is completed.

If you are renewing a badge and it is within 30 days prior to its expiration you can skip this step.  If your badge has expired you will need to wait for another TSA Security Threat Assessment to be completed which may take several weeks (aka, the full process).

-FINALLY, schedule a time to take the badge test at the Airport information booth: (574) 282-4590 ext. 0
The day of the "test" you will take the filled out and signed form to the “Airport Information” window in the terminal AS WELL AS the Identity Documents from above (and if it's a renewal, your current badge). You will watch a 20-min video, take a test, pass, and pay $25-$30 for the new badge.  This will enable you to access the T-hangers and our planes for the next year.

If you have any questions feel free to reach out to our badge signer directly!

-Failure to follow any of these steps will result in multiple trips to the Airport Authority Office and needless aggravation for ALL parties involved.
